Water Baptisms

Scripture is clear that once a person has become a born-again believer, they are to continue their walk with Christ by being baptized in water. (Matthew 3:13; 28:19; Acts 2:38; 2:41; 8:12; 8:36-38.) While water baptism does not save a person from their sin, it is an outward expression of an inward condition that shows in a visible way that you have buried your old sinful life and have been raised from death to a new life in Christ. Water baptism is a public confession that your sins are forgiven and that you have become a true follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.
• Water baptism shows that the Christian has been crucified with Christ. Paul writes in Romans 6:6, “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”
• Water baptism shows that the Christian has died with Christ. Paul writes in Romans 6:3, “Know ye not that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death?”
• Water baptism shows that the Christian has been resurrected with Christ. Paul writes in Romans 6:8, “Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him.”
• Water baptism shows that the Christian is walking in newness of life. Paul says in Colossianss 2:6, “As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him.”
The biblical mode of water baptism is by immersion, (Mark 1:9-10; Acts 8:38), carried out “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).
